  4. AaaaAaLISH ARBITER OF TOURNAMENT In terms of our arbitration tournament gets more and more international. Our message about the Belgian arbitration is immediately followed by a nice message from our friends from the English Wiltshire. Keith Davis, and will be present at the tournament last year, this year, the preference given to the whistle of matches over the play itself. He is officially referee and has gained extensive experience in leading Walking Football matches. By participating in the 1st edition of the Almelo City Cup, he is also familiar with the Dutch rules and this is him and the other team members Wiltshire so much that they even have a proposal in England to introduce more Dutch rules. We are very pleased with his commitment and wish him a very nice tournament. l

  20. Dudley based walking football club Hartshill Strollers will hold the tournament in memory of the much loved 51 year old, Steve Bragg who died suddenly on holiday in Spain April 2016. The eight club tournament will be staged at Summerhill School, Kingswinford this Sunday 23rd April 2017 Hartshill Strollers chairman, Mark Grazier said, “The tournament will take place almost exactly 12 months to the day after Steve’s tragic death. “Club membership is restricted to the over 50s, so Steve was one of our youngest members. “His sudden and untimely death came as a terrible shock to everyone at the club. “Steve had been a member for only a few months but was very popular and greatly respected. “I believe that, in time, he would have become a key member of the club, both on and off the pitch. “He was a highly gifted player but he was also a wonderful man. He would always encourage team-mates when they did well and console them – and never criticise - when they did poorly. “Steve has been greatly missed on the pitch and in our hearts. We hope that the tournament will be a suitable tribute to his memory.” The Steve Bragg Memorial Tournament starts at 11.30 am and spectators are welcome to attend Price Of Admission: Free. 24. My name is Curtis Sinclair and I am a doctoral research student at Staffordshire University. I am inviting all Walking Football Clubs, communities, and players to participate in a nationwide research study. The primary focus of the study is around grassroots football - specifically Walking Football - with a keen interest in how being a member of a particular team might have an impact on different outcomes, such as motivation, performance, and physical health. You may already be aware of recent findings showing the excellent health benefits of participation in Walking Football. I hope to build on this research by looking at what benefits being part of a group or team might bring to you and your teammates. The study would run over a period of approximately 3-months, which would coincide with the initial stages of the FA's, WFA's and EFL's national cup competitions. Anybody wishing to participate would be asked to complete 2 surveys, one as soon as possible and a follow-up in approximately 3-months, taking around 15 minutes to complete on each occasion. The survey can be taken by anyone who is participating in walking football, competitively or non-competitively. If a significant number of players from a team complete both surveys I will provide specific feedback relevant to your team. This feedback may be useful in terms of either improving your team’s performance or promoting the benefits of walking football. All participants will have access to a summary of the overall findings of the study. I would also like to offer anyone that completes both surveys the opportunity to access a free 60-minute online health-based session (e.g., quitting smoking, weight loss, stress management). The survey is now live and you can access it by clicking on the link [Hidden Content] You are welcome to forward the link to anyone in your team or club that is currently taking part in walking football and you feel would like to participate in the study. It is, however, vital that the link is not shared with anyone outside of walking football to ensure the findings are a true reflection of your sport. The first page of the survey is an information sheet that outlines the purpose of the study, your rights to withdraw, potential benefits, and how I will treat the data securely. If you would like a copy of this information I will happily forward you a copy on request. If you wish to read these later you will have up until 2-weeks after the completion of the second survey to withdraw your data. When signing up for the survey please use an active email address. This will enable me to identify your data, at a later date, if you wish to withdraw but more importantly to forward the link to the second part of the study in approximately 3-months. If you would like to confirm my student status at Staffordshire University you can do this by emailing [email protected] They will be able to provide confirmation of my student status. I have also included their full contact information below. Any questions about participating then please feel free to email or call me. Lastly, good luck to each of you for the season ahead.
