The MyGuideMarbella Walking Football Masters
March 4th to March 7th 2018
Walking Football Spain started life in May 2017 and now have 3 teams along the Costa del Sol, in Marbella, San Pedro and Benalmadena.
Due to numerous requests from UK and European teams looking to play Walking Football on the Costa del Sol, we have now organised our own tournaments for 2018.
But demand is high and space is limited, so contact us now to find out more!
The MyGuideMarbella Walking Football Masters is sponsored by MyGuideMarbella, which is the top website for things to do and places to go in Marbella and the Costa del Sol.
The tournament will feature 2 teams from Walking Football Spain, plus another 6 teams from the UK or Europe.
We have interest from teams in Germany and Portugal for example.
The matches will be 6-a-side and for safety reasons will be 3-touch and strictly non-contact.
The age range will be 45+.
As we are limited to only hosting 8 teams, then we cannot offer split age groups at this time.
But the non-contact rule will be strictly enforced, which we hope will allow the older players to compete against the younger ones.
The following year, in 2019, we plan to host both over 45 and over 60 tournaments. The inventor of Walking Football, John Croot, has promised to attend as our guest of honour and hand out the prizes.
Plus we have secured the services of Jonathan Sinfield, who is currently one of only ten WFA qualified walking football referees.
The last night, Tuesday 6th March, we will host an awards dinner with a 3-course meal.
The prizes will be handed out by John Croot and then we will have live music provided by the Groef Tones 5piece band, to keep the entertainment going long into the night.
Location is sports camp Finca Naundrup in Calahonda, near Marbella.
Accommodation is shared apartments, which are being fully refurbished this winter, and Full Board (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
There is a brand new 4G pitch with goals across each half that we will use.
There is also a large unheated pool, a beach volleyball court, a tennis court and an outdoor gym.
For the evenings, you can unwind at the outdoor bar with a firepit if needed.
There will be first aid and a defibrillator on site. Finca Naundrup will also supply free water during the tournament.
Plus the pool bar will be open if you fancy something stronger! Finca Naundrup is a 5-minute taxi ride from the beach at Calahonda and 15 minutes from Marbella town centre, or 25 minutes from the glitzy venue of Puerto Banus.
